The 2022 Jag Jeans Fashion Show Standout ...

The 2022 Jag Jeans Fashion Show Standouts!

Jul 23, 2022

The Jag Jeans fashion show is one of the events and activities where the Binibining Pilipinas candidates can let loose onstage. It is where all 40 Binibinis showcase their presentation skills and how strong their pasarela are.

It is also the segment of the Bb. Pilipinas National Costume Fashion Show that pageant aficionados and connoisseurs like yours truly watch the Binibinis like hawks hunting for prey for ladies that have the best moves onstage. And effectively move the Binibinis up or down our respective lists.

Before we go to the meat and bones of this post, let's just mention 2 things first. Firstly, there is a difference in the exposure and sequence of the Jag Jeans choreography this year. Some girls have longer exposure to their poses while some had longer exposure in terms of showcasing their pasarela. This difference in choreography revealed who are good with poses and who were good with walking. Secondly, because of how the choreo is on the show, our picks are based on our observations on who did well in both their poses and pasarela. It is a subjective list but it is based on keen observation.

Just as we want to jump into the main list, we also want to tip our hats off to several ladies worth mentioning that did well in the Jag Jeans fashion show...

Patricia Ann Tan - this lady was a sprite on-stage, a little slower movements and turns would have allowed for better and longer camera time. There was a part that she almost got off-balanced in her turn and taking time to properly execute her turns would help with this problem. Nevertheless she managed to show energy throughout her presentation.

Fatima Kate Bisan - with a very nude/ brown palette, we hoped she chose a lip color that complimented her overall look. She was among the standouts in her group nevertheless.

Karen Laurrie Mendoza - perfect styling, perfect outfit add that to one of the best faces in the competition. It was a formula for a win, but Karen lacked the energy that other girls brought into their performance. We're hoping that she and her team can re-calibrate on that.

Now let's discuss the ladies that made our top 15 list of standouts...

15. Jane Darren Genobisa - great energy onstage but we got distracted with her fiddling her hair too much. Hope that she won't sport too much hair extensions come finals as it gets too distrating towards her performance.

14. Yana Aduana - her over all outfit emphasized her tiny waist and the nude/ browns complimented her skin. What I would have changed is her hairstyle (in a ponytail with curled tips, ala Janine Tugonon) to make her face more visible.

13. Yana Aduana - her over all outfit emphasized her tiny waist and the nude/ browns complimented her skin. What I would have changed is her hairstyle (in a ponytail with curled tips, ala Janine Tugonon) to make her face more visible.

12. Anne de Mesa - that backward gaze in her poses is one that is difficult to execute and we give props for Anne to pull this off as her signature pose.

11. Elda Aznar - love her onstage, Jag should have given her a better outfit IMHO. What I would have done for Elda is to fold her shorts and cuffed it to show more leg. Despite that she delivered quite well onstage.

10. Jessica Rose McEwen - understated but gave strong facial expressions (just look at her intense eyes) in her performance. The pasarela was clean enough though we would have wanted cleaner transitions between poses.

9. Jashmin Dimaculangan - What she wore didn't fully complimented her and that's a travesty because Jash is a performer and she has that suave and controlled way of presentation/ pasarela. She did deliver quite enough given with what she was given to wear.

8. Herlene Nicole Budol - no issues with the performance but her hairstyle and accessories are too much. Her press presentation makeup is perhaps the better option too. She got the moves onstage and the body to showcase, styling-wise that night it was a little overboard.

Let's now proceed to our top 7 list. The ladies in our top 7 arguably are the best girls during the Jag Jeans segment of the fashion show. They gave face, attitude, energy, flawless pasarela and poses, and much more!

7. Diana Mackey - call it personal preference, but Diana showed that she can pull back when needed and instead turn on the command and presence on the catwalk. She was serving looks in the Jag Jeans segment.

6. Cyrille Payumo - the catwalk is the place where one's height gives extra points to a well executed performance. Cyrille owned her moment onstage!

5. Gabby Basiano - she was one of the ladies that transformed her look with just a change of lip color. She was giving energy and serving face. She executed her Jag Jeans presentation with impeccable choreography and with a strong walk.

4. Roberta Tamondong - some may find her performance underwhelming but her controlled performance showed us that you can deliver while not going overboard. Her facial expression of confidence and magnetism was more than enough.

3. CJ Opiaza - we love how her hip sway like a Latina contender. CJ, despite her 5'6" stature walked like she was a glamazon. Now that's the kind of attitude we want to see onstage!

2. Chelsea Fernandez - it was the straight hair that changed her overall aura. Chelsea is a contender and she showed it with her presence and confidence onstage.

1. Graciella Lehmann - for us, she owned the Jag Jeans segment. Full stop. Period. There was no wasted moment when she was onstage, she made sure everyone paid attention to her during her turn at the catwalk.
