Hi friends! I'm on a mini-sabbatical from my 9-to-5 job. It's like a 22-day weekend. I really recommend it if you ever get the chance. Been doing lots of ... well, honestly, I spent like 2.5 days intermittently crying and staring out the window as I processed some pandemic grief and fatigue ... but now I'm only crying like twice a day and otherwise very much enjoying myself. Here's what I've been up to...
๐ Reading
All 1,000+ pages of Stephen King's extended edition of The Stand, finally. Doing a bit of fan-recommended extra-curriculur reading in my journey through the Dark Tower series.
This Vulture ... interview? profile? ... featuring a not-very-talkative but still quite interesting Tim Robinson.
Voice Content Usability by Preston So.
๐บ Watching
I Think You Should Leave Season 2 (and plenty of season 1 rewatches). ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
The NBA playoffs and finals (yay sporps, Go Suns!). ๐๐๐๐
Lisey's Story on AppleTV+. I'm a sucker for any high-concept cinematic treatment of Stephen King stuff. So far so good. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
The Loki series on Disney+ ๐๐๐ยฝ (Great show on its own but I'm annoyed by the MCU erasing character journeys ... the last Avengers movie ended on a silly note in my book because they came together to defeat a villain who mostly didn't even know who they were...he wasn't the same guy! this isn't the same Loki! pbbth.)
A long-overdue rewatch of Flight of the Conchords, which mostly holds up. โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
๐ค Exploring
Chasing a notion of turning my Editing Lenses workshop into a book of some sort, so I am currently surrounded by a table covered with used books on academic writing, revision, teaching writing, etc.
๐จ๐ปโ๐ค Listening
Went looking for April's Dinosaur Jr. release at local record stores this week. No luck. I picked up Ruminations on vinyl, instead, and have been listening to the first disc over and over.
๐จ๐ปโ๐ป Computing
Playing more with Apple's Homekit, having recently added a HomePod Mini, Apple TV, and a couple of Eufy cameras to my network. Siri remains one of the most maddening interfaces I've ever used, but I trust Apple more than the rest and would like to be able to check when there's a package on my porch or if I left the back gate open without expanding a massive civilian surveillance network.
๐ฎ Playing
SpellTower+ on Apple Arcade has been either my morning wind-up or nightime wind-down for a few weeks now.
๐ข Promoting
Uhhhh...nothing, I guess? Trying to get my ducks in a row during this little break. More soon!
