When I began Open Water Swimming I had no expectation that I would love it, or that I would ever swim further than a mile at a time - Why? Because that would be sheer madness. Then I began training for a 12km swim across Langebaan Lagoon on the West Coast of South Africa...
I was very motivated after recent news stories had publicised the exploitation of our West Coast... mining of all sorts of materials had not only destroyed the coastline, but access to the beaches fro recreation and many folks' livelihoods was denied. You can read about my swim and my campaign here.
