Plural noun endings in the Genitive case

Nov 13, 2022

Dear friends 👋, this material is on Genitive case-forms for plural nouns.

✔️ What you need to know is: There are three types of inflexions indicating the Genitive case plural in Russian nouns: 👉 (1) -ов/-ев, 👉 (2) -ей and 👉 (3) zero.

✔️ Advice:  Do not try to ‘build’ a plural Genitive case-form directly from the basic singular noun (i.e. from a singular Nominative case-form) – make it plural first. In other words, your ‘way’ from a singular Nominative case-form of noun to its plural Genitive case-form must look like this: друг → друзья́ → друзе́й; де́рево → дере́вья → дере́вьев; граждани́н → гра́ждане → гра́ждан, etc. This summary table is based on lessons 9 and 10 from the brochure for self-learners “STEPS 7 to 10”: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/selfstudru8/e/85255

Lesson 9 (with detailed comments and exercises) is available in PDF 📃: https://ru.files.fm/f/9bevjkz25
