A song I wrote during COVID lockdown. It's a tongue in cheek 'Ode to a Couch.' No click track, harmonies aren't perfect - it's properly a first demo version of the song. And I've not really had a platform that I've felt comfortable putting it out there on. And I could of course leave it here on my computer and let it whither and die, never to be heard by anyone but me... but really, WHY?
It's all a work in progress. Questions and comments welcome. And yes, next step is to start working with a click track. Yikes. But also, hooray for betterment!
Lyrics
I don't want to do the things
I wanna lay along beside you
Spend my days in the warm sun
With you, soft from the warm parts of me
And when this all is over
sure you'll see a little less of me
but I'll always come home to you
So don't mind me if I linger a little longer now
I'm not myself, this isn't me.
These are extenuating circumstances
Please let me be...
I'm tired and I can't leave the house
And the voice in my head
is you dear old couch
And the fridge, she has just learned my name
And soon we'll throw a party and not be surprised nobody came.
And when this all is over
sure you'll see a little less of me
but I'll always come home to you
So don't mind me if I linger a little longer now
