Pisces Season

Pisces Season

May 24, 2021

This was first sent out (during Pisces season, funnily) to my email list which you can join for free at: www.siobhanjohnson.com/about

March is a funny month. It begins with an end and ends with a beginning. So much of the astrological year is about endings and beginnings because it reflects the fact that everything in nature has its own cycle. The ending of the life of a field mouse is the beginning of life for a baby hawk, for example. The death we experience in Scorpio season at Samhain in October is only one end and the new beginning we experience at Yule is only one beginning. In March we have the end of the Zodiac year with Pisces and its beginning with Aries around the Equinox. (We’ll talk about that in the next email.)

Pisces is sometimes known as the dustbin of the Zodiac because it contains a little bit of everything that has come before it. It is both an ending and also the end of endings, because it is all about the falling away of boundaries on the way to enlightenment. Yet it also contains the understanding and need for boundaries within itself, because it contains everything else. You can view this paradox in physical terms by engaging with water. Water is one of the most boundaryless substances on Earth and because of that requires a container. Even the water that falls as wild rain is boundaried, carried by clouds until the time is right and held in the shape of a rain drop by Earth’s gravity.

One of the important questions that Pisces seasons brings is how to release and relax the right boundaries. You can see this at play in any list of Piscean traits or recommended activities. Astral travel is breaking the boundaries of the body. Art and creative works transcend human limitations by their very nature, but art that speaks to greater truths is well-aspected now. Dreams are without limits. Magic is one of the most boundary stretching things you can do, as is universal love. Sending out a prayer to help everyone who’s suffering as you do without making exceptions for those who ‘do not deserve it’ is a very Piscean thing to do, and one of those short activities that pays back a thousandfold.

The energy of Pisces is all about understanding, accepting, allowing and integrating what has gone before. This allows for a great push of energy to blossom within you ready to start the year anew.

As well as that prayer, consider exploring what you’ve learned over the past year. However, I urge you to not to frame this around the pandemic. It isn’t over yet, and dredging to find positive outcomes in a shit situation that hasn’t had time to heal can be damaging. Instead, think of other things that have come to a close, or other lessons that have arranged themselves before you. If you have lost someone, now may be a good time to look back on their whole life and see what stories you remember, and perhaps find new ones that happened before you knew them by talking to other people. Perhaps you are too early in your grieving process for this yet - we all grieve differently. If you have lost yourself, you are now in the position to choose your values and the things you want to bring forward into your life. A lot of people are pivoting right now - don’t feel scared if you’re among them. And if you feel comfortable right now, don’t feel strange. We are where we are, and nothing brings that into deeper clarity than Pisces.
