We support, empower and encourage more girls and women to cycle in Derby.
Regardless of age, sexuality, ethnicity, bike or ability, we welcome everyone who identifies as female and non-binary people who feel comfortable in spaces that centre the experience of women. We also encourage male allies to get involved and support what we do.
Cycling is good for our physical and mental health, helps our environment, saves time and money and above all, it is just really fun.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, we have seen a huge increase in the number of women cycling. The government also announced significant investment and plans for cycling, with Derby City Council receiving over one million pounds in funding.
At spoke out, we are really keen to maintain and build on this momentum. However, our research shows that girls and women feel that their voices and needs are overlooked when it comes to cycling in Derby and they do not feel safe on our roads. We want to change that.
Great work :)
