Making A Difference
We all have the capacity to make difference; it's about whether we choose to.
Choosing to, starts with the recognition that we can.
Difference begins with a smile to a stranger which stops them from seeing through 'their plan'.
A cup of coffee made without request - that makes a difference too; making the recipient feel wanted and valued - they mean something to you.
Handing over a spare bike, a piece of tech or a few words of guidance - they make a difference too; helping to move from stationary, to a movement of significance - a "now I can, I will".
Walking with someone arm in arm, together for or against a cause - lifts spirits up, gives flight to belief and makes a difference - enough to make a whole world pause.
But...
But difference starts with a decision, a decision to be the kind of person who does, not someone who sits there waiting for other and something to be done.
Some explanation
We're often put off from making the difference we want by our perception of the size of the task.
My tip - start small. Making a difference to others takes less than we think; start by noticing - be all there.
Notice the words people use, the pauses they make, what they're doing and consider how you might help them 'be' or 'go' further.
You'll surprise yourself and them - in a good way.
