We have a dehydrated egg!

We have a dehydrated egg!

So like many other people who have tried this experiment, indeed pyramids can preserve food. The work shown here is based on the learnings recorded in the book "The Pyramid" by Les Brown. I'll add a few notes with each of the images below. This is a quick, dirty, cheap experiment and I'll be pursuing this further in a more scientific and structured way so that others can replicate the results or build further on the knowledge acquired.

Below is a photo of the cones being 3D printed with a entry-level Prusa 3D printer and PLA filament. PLA is not desirable as it melts in the heat, but it gives a good finish and I had plenty of it. The cone is the Giza geometry, 51 degrees and 51 minutes, or 51.844 degrees. If you look at this photo and pause the printer at this moment, you could try putting a coil inside it, and then continue printing - see what other result you might get.

As you see below, the cones are sanded with fine grit sandpaper. I think this may help. You can see the triangulation in the surface finish of the cone. The solid model (SolidWorks) was saved out as a 3MF file and then converted to the G-Code file on PrusaSlicer, 50% infill. I will be uploading 3D print files for anyone to print at home. This part is roughly 3 AUD.

See below, I watched this fly buzz around on 29th January. It made many attempts to venture into the glass. Would the energy field have caused it to approach cautiously? It did eventually find its way down and sat on the egg. I'm sharing this as Les Brown mentioned the flies didn't go near the food on his pyramids. Can't draw any conclusions on this so far. Maybe it's possible to create an environment where the flies won't go near it?

This is the result... a dehydrated egg. A mummified egg... I didn't check for a few days. So the egg was cracked into an open glass jar on 21st January. So it had about 17 days or less to dry out. Aluminium foil was glued onto hard paper on both sides and then placed onto the tips of the cones. The jar was placed on top.

See image below, I must mention that other experiments with different geometries are ongoing. Some eggs already show mould, others seem to be in the phase of dehydrating.
