Embracing the Journey: The Power of Persistence when you want to Give Up

Jul 17, 2023

It's not uncommon to find yourself at a crossroads, unsure of the path to take. Have you ever stood there, the unknown stretching out before you, your future hanging in the balance? During these moments, doubt and fear might whisper in your ear, insisting that turning back is the better option. Yet, there's a part of you that aches to push forward, to see what lies beyond the horizon.

That yearning voice, my friends, is the beacon of the ever evolving path to freedom. It's a concept that I hold dear to my heart, a pursuit that has shaped my journey. Freedom for me is not about chasing after piles of money or striving for an unrealistic notion of perfection. It's about making conscious choices, both in terms of money, time and mindset, to steer your life towards living life on your terms.

Let me ask you this - have you ever been blindsided by a hunger that demands to be satisfied? A hunger so potent it clouds your thoughts, insisting on one thing and one thing alone? My personal antidote to such cravings is a scrumptious pizza, oozing with cheese and generously laden with sausage and pepperoni. Think about it - doesn't it just make your mouth water? Now, I'm curious - what are your favorite pizza toppings?

That kind of hunger, that all-consuming need - it's something many of us experience in our journey towards time freedom. But, instead of succumbing to the temptation of quick fixes or short cuts, we can choose to channel this hunger into fuel for our journey, one step at a time.

My journey hasn't been a walk in the park - far from it. There have been moments of utter despair and exhaustion when I wondered if it's all worth it. Yes, even I, Steve Ryan, have had my lows. But the catch is, I refused to let these stumbling blocks derail me from my path. I wouldn't allow myself to give up. I adopted a try-and-fail rather than fail-to-try attitude because I knew that as long as I kept trying, there's always an opportunity to win.

As writer and speaker John C. Maxwell once said in his book "Failing Forward", "The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of and response to failure." Those words, I've found, resonate with my experience.

Sometimes, the act of trying can seem like it’s taking the life out of us. But that’s when we need to remember to breathe life back into ourselves. It’s okay to take a breather, to unplug for a moment, and forgive ourselves. Because giving up? That's not an option. To anyone out there who feels like they're spinning their wheels, remember this - it's okay to feel tired, but do not give up. And I’m not just speaking to you, but also to myself.

We are all on this journey together, navigating the highs and lows. And while the road might be tough, and the journey long, there's a certain beauty in the struggle, in the determination to keep pushing forward, in the relentless pursuit of our dreams. Because, remember, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey.
