6th August 2021

Walking towards Coles in Randwick, I came across this beautiful street library. Packed with amazing books, I was excited to open it’s appealing door. Before getting any closer, the lovely owner of the street library called Kenith Ford (hopefully I am spelling it right) came out and was amazingly friendly. He talked to me about how he takes care of the library and advised me to visit it every week as he changes the books frequently.

The little chat with Kenith was like fresh air to my life. I really miss human interaction! A bit of chitchat, giggles and conversation won’t kill anyone, right? After I dug in, I found two pearls: The Openbook Magazine Autumn 2021 Edition, published by the State Library of NSW. I wanted to read this magazine long time ago, and was very happy to find it there.

The other pearl I found was another book by Penelope Leach called Children’s First: What society must do - and is not doing - for children today. I am very excited about this read as it is about children and about criticising society for the ways we treat children (ha, ha, ha).

If you have a chance, visit this Street Library and say hello to Kenith. You won’t regret it!

Happy reading my loves! 🌈
