Fall channel update

Fall channel update

Oct 23, 2021

Hello all,

First of all, I want to say thank you for being a supporter of mine and sticking with me. I know this email only goes out to about half a dozen of you right now but you all have helped me to feel more confident in what content I’m creating. I’m so very grateful that you all believe in what I’m doing. I realize the YouTube Content has been less frequent recently and that’s because I’ve been trying not to get overloaded between the multiple jobs I’m working as well as production for my channel. Burnout is real and it takes a good amount of time and effort to produce each video. In order to avoid that I’m trying to spend a little more time at home with my partner.

Second, I wanted to give you a brief update on where Tabletop Theory is at right now. As you may have seen on my latest video or found on your own. I recently started a TikTok channel. This has gone really well and I’m very happy with the results. With only a few videos I’ve been able to gain a decent following of more than 3000 followers in about a month and more are joining every day. I’m glad to have a new way to share ideas and engage with you all. If you’re on TikTok and you’d like to find me it’s pretty easy. I have the same handle there as I do on Twitter and Instagram, @tabletoptheory1.

This channel isn’t psychological theory based. It’s content is more casual. I do a lot more silly voices and focus more on D&D and one of my most popular series is called “Initial Roll” where I simply roll a D20 and use the result to give people encouraging words to get through their day. I do plan to continue to provide positive affirmations and focus on growth and development but the content is more casual.

Lastly I wanted to give you all an update on where I’m planning to take things in the future. I’ve been trying for the last year to find a way to improve each video on the YouTube channel. I enjoy taking a more serious approach to mental health and talking about the commonalities between mental health theory and being a good GM. So, please don’t worry. The serious mental health content isn’t going anywhere. However, I’m wanting to find ways to make the content more approachable to people who may not be as familiar with it. So as the YouTube videos progress in the future you may see the introduction of new video styles and some new formats. One idea I’m tossing around is building an axe throwing target and using it as a metaphor for talking about skill development. But no matter what, I want to hear from you all. My supporters.

Thank you all so much again,

Joe from Tabletop Theory
