Anusha hiking journal: Nanzilin Trail

Anusha hiking journal: Nanzilin Trail

Dec 01, 2022

Hey hiking friend,

It's my Friday journal here. This week is about the most accessible trail I've done but yet with the most amazing views.

I share those trails that are not on the Taiwan Hikes yet (or on the waiting list). Those are for Taiwan Hikes' BMAC supporters Friday. This week I'd like to share Nanzilin Trail. I mentioned this in my Teapot Mountain trail, but this one is worth a mini post.

Other than Yangmingshan and Yushan, Teapot Mountain might be the most famous among international and local visitors in Taiwan. However, a hidden gem is close to Teapot Mountain and Jiufen: Nanzilin Trail.

The trailhead of Nanzilin Trail is close to Nanya Harbor and Nanya Rock Formation. It takes only 30 minutes to finish the whole trail without stopping.

(Bitoujiao can be seen from Nanzilin Trail.)

The highest peak, Mt. Nanzilin, is 196 meters above sea level. There's an east peak (180 meters) nearby.

(Some of the peak view. The mountain is Mt. Keelung.)

It's a 360-degree view of mountains and the northeast coast of Taiwan.

(Beautiful northeast coast)

When I do Teapot Mountain hike, I can see Nanzilin Mountain and Bitoujiao Lighthouse from the trail.

(Teapot Mountain is on the left and the one on the left is Mt. Nanzilin.)

If you are looking for an easy hike with spectacular views near Taipei, I highly recommend this one. If you go on the weekends, expect crowds there. After the walk, you can go to Bitoujiao.

What are your favorite short and easy hikes with amazing views near you? How long does it take? And what do you like about those hikes? I'd like to hear from you :)
