New post: Yangmingshan series and public transport guide

Feb 01, 2023

Hi hiking friends,

Yangmingshan series and the public transport guide are here. In this post, you will learn:

  • Yangmingshan National Park history and active volcano

  • How to get to Yangmingshan by public transport

  • Things to see on the trails at Yangmingshan

  • Trail systems and popular routes at Yangmingshan

(The view I saw at Datun Mountain Main Peak.)

I'm grateful that we are so close to Yangmingshan. I can't find enough words to describe her beauty. I can always find new things whenever I visit Yangmingshan. No wonder Yangmingshan has attracted so many people, including international visitors.

Before I quit my cooperate job, I only visited Yangmingshan occasionally because the long queues at the bus stops put me off. Now, I can go to Yangmingshan on the weekdays with fewer people. That's why I decided to write more about Yangmingshan.

One of my friends told me that she wanted to hike Yangmingshan, but she never understood how to take the bus to Yangmingshan. She's right. It's complicated to take public transport to Yangmingshan. Typically, we have to transfer at least 3 times to the trailheads.

If taking buses to Yangmingshan is difficult for we local Taiwanese, I can't imagine how hard it would be for people who don't read Chinese or are from other countries. Also, finding where the bus stops are is difficult. To be honest with you, I got lost at Taipei Station several times myself.

You can download the PDF guide by clicking here. I hope this post and public transport guide can help you enjoy Yangmingshan with less hassle. I didn't put all the buses going to Yangmingshan in this guide because I tried to make it simple, handy, and easy to understand. If you have other suggestions, please let me know what you think :)

This series will be an ongoing project because there are so many ways and routes to hike Yangmingshan. My friend Acer knows Yangmingshan by heart and has his own routes to explore Yangmingshan. While working on those trails and posts, I'll also work on posts about my other hikes, like my 3-day trip to Kinmen Island last year.

The following post will also be about Yangmingshan, and I'll start writing Kinmen Island. Talk to you later :)
