Dionne's Buy Me a Coffee English pronunciation studio presents: Having Fun with Dionne's Pronunciation Drills! Practice Topic: Vowel Sounds /ɪ/ and /iː/ Hello, my name is Dionne. Welcome to my Buy Me a Coffee English pronunciation studio. This audio is brought to you by TEFL Training and Recruitment. For more information please visit www.dionneseslcyberlounge.com. In this pronunciation audio, we are going to practice the /ɪ/ as in 'sit' vowel and the /i:/ as in 'eat' vowel. These sounds can be a challenge for non-native English speakers. Many English learners will exchange the /ɪ/ sound to the /i:/ sound. For the /ɪ/ sound, my tongue is rounded towards the roof of my mouth and the tip of my tongue is lightly touching the back of my front teeth and then I open my jaw partially. Please repeat after me: Which, fill, instead, grin, busy, divorce, print, slip, knit, lip. For the /i:/ sound, I stretch my lips and smile. I also feel the tip of my tongue lightly touching the bottom part of the back of my front teeth. Please repeat after me: She, busy, please, need, keep, early, police, coffee, neat, each. Great! Now let us practice these two sounds together. Please repeat after me: Eat - it, beat - bit, heat - hit, meet (meat) - mitt, feet - fit, sheet - shit Be careful with that last word. It's a bad word for English. Ok, Now, we will practice sentences and phrase. Please repeat after me: The bean is in the bin. The chip is very cheap. Eat it now. Sit on the seat. The kid keyed the Car. The sill sits by the seal. Don't lick the leak. The chick is beside my cheek. Thank you. Don't forget. Keep practicing.
