The Piece That Got Suspended on Medium

The Piece That Got Suspended on Medium

In its entirety.

Op-Ed

I Don’t Even Know Where to Begin

My response to a recent post.

*Disclaimer: this is merely my opinion which is why it’s in an opinion-based publication. It is not hate-induced or selection shaming. It is merely my perspective of the world we live in today.

I recently read a post here on the platform where the writer explained/ranted why she has a problem with the multiple pronouns that inundate us on social media and in the MSM. She isn’t the only one. I read a second post by yet another writer and I too have an issue with the state of sex and gender and identity in the world today.

In this first writer’s opinion,

No idiot, gender is not fluid, sexual preferences are.

I Googled ‘is gender fluid?’ Why in the hell did I do that? Because then I had to Google:

  • gender-nonconforming

  • genderqueer

  • pangender

  • cisgender

  • transgender

Shitballs.

  • who can use neoprouns?

  • is androgynous a gender?

  • and I noted a question that asked what the 76 genders were

  • someone asked what the 78 pronouns were

That’s when I quit. I know this is not going to be a popular opinion and will piss some people off. Hopefully not as anyone who has read my stuff over the last two years on this platform knows — I don’t fall in line. I don’t tow the party line. I formulate my own opinions after listening to all sides and doing research. So here goes.

Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed. This includes norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl or boy, as well as relationships with each other. As a social construct, gender varies from society to society and can change over time.-World Health Organization

So according to WHO, gender is indeed fluid because of “social constructs”. Whatever is tolerated in society becomes the new definition of gender.

On June 22, 2021, the Williams Institute (UCLA School of Law) posted the following:

An estimated 11% of LGBTQ adults in the U.S. — approximately 1.2 million people — identify as nonbinary, according to a new study by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law. The majority of them are under age 29, urban, and white.

Next, I asked Google how many people are in the US. According to the most recent number I could locate there are 329.5 million (2020). Now let’s do some math.

329.5M — 1.2M=328.3M

And that’s just in the US. The rest of the world can handle its own issues. We’ve got more than enough and can’t keep up with those. So, here we go yet again. The minority attempting to cram down the throats of the majority what is and isn’t acceptable in society. Then why in the actual fuck are 1.2M trying to tell 328.3M how to think and feel?

So, I get where the writer is coming from. Even though WHO says gender is fluid it’s up to society to decide if this is going to be the case. You have her answer and mine.

Yeah, no.

I could identify as a 20-year-old, independently wealthy, and a size zero, but that doesn’t make it so.

The writer inserted a pink box with a list of feminine and masculine traits such as not aggressive/aggressive etc. I mostly ticked off the masculine list, “worldly”, “not very desirous of security”, and “cruel” being the three I did not identify with. Does that now make me a dude?

Nope.

I have huge boobs and a vagina that shoved out a nine-pound kid with no drugs. I am 100% woman and identify as such. My wardrobe would beg to differ. I wear men’s t-shirts. George brand from Walmart to be exact. Why? I like the way they fit. Not because I have some secret desire to grow a dick or use the men’s restroom.

Or play in the NFL. Or the men’s swim team. Eh hemm.

So, why do I identify with so many “male” traits? Let’s start with upbringing. I grew up on a 5-acre farm the oldest of three girls. I was the token son. I helped dad on the farm. The other two stayed in the house with mom and learned to cook and clean, while I was on a John Deere at 15 driving it through the fields with the manure spreading going at full force.

Does that sound like lace and perfume and painted nails work to you?

Then add to that we were broke as shit. We all wore jeans and t-shirts sometimes blouses. We got hand-me-downs from cousins and it was a big deal when we could go to Dollar General (or Kmart when I got older) in order to buy clothes. Ask me where my corduroys came from.

Southern States Feed Store. You read that right. Corduroys and bib overalls were a big thing in the S.S. store back in the 70s. I’d go in and pick out a pair in every color I liked and wore them every day in the winter. They were warmer than jeans.

Now can I grow a penis?

Why wear George brand t-shirts? Like I said, comfort. Go on Walmart.com and look at t-shirts for women and t-shirts for men. Men’s hang straight from the shoulders. Women’s hang from the shoulder and then get tight around the waist. That doesn’t fit my body shape.

How about now?

Women that work in what used to be predominantly “men’s work” are a little more edgy and rough. Because we’ve had to be. There is no room for emotions when you’re saving someone’s life. Just like our male counterparts we face the situation at hand and deal with the emotions later. Sometimes later never happens because there’s always another call, another problem, another issue, another emergency, another disaster. They stack up, pile up and you begin to suppress it all. It’s the only way to get through the day/shift/job.

Can I use a urinal now?

Have I made my point yet?

I do not believe in men who “identify” as female playing in women’s sports. They have an unfair advantage physically, which is why the dude that was in the news for a bit for performing exceptionally well in women’s sports and the backlash he got for doing it, was able to pull off that feat. Looking at his performance prior to the “identity change”, he sucked. He never won anything and if he did he was so far down the list that it was laughable.

Painting your nails and growing your hair out makes you no more a woman than me wearing Goerge’s t-shirts makes me a man.

I’m not peeing standing up in the men’s room and this dude needs to be kicked out of sports until he can compete like a man or they make a special sports team for people who are “fluid”.

I could insert a joke here but I think I’ll keep that to myself. I’m going to get enough hate mail now as it is.

Below are the links to the two posts that I referred to above. Read at your own risk just like you did with this one.
