Hi, I'm Jara, the content creator for the Jarajaywrites Weekly
Podcast, which aims to relive the spirit of Islam in today's
modern day and age, especially for those living in the West. I
am here today to share with all my listeners the new and
upcoming series alongside the 'Spill The Beans' Series called
The "Spoken Word Project: The Revelation Order of the Qur'an."
This new series aims to present the Qur'an in the sequence
that the Messenger Muhammad (PBUH) received. Instead of
presenting it from Al-Fatihah (The Opening) to Al-Baqarah (The
Cow) and finishing it with An-Nas (Mankind), I will present
the work from Surah Al-'Alaq (The Clot) and finish it with Al-
Nasr (The Victory). Among those used in this project were the
translations produced by Dr. T.B. Irving, Mustafa Khattab, Dr.
Ghali, Abdul Haleem, and Al-Jalalayn. For inspiration and
extra insights, I also refer to the translation work done by
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan in Quran: A Simple English Translation
(Goodword! Koran) (English Edition). With the help of these
sources, I transcribed each surah and audio-recorded them to
create the "Spoken Word Project: The Revelation Order of the
Quran." The Meccan and Medinan eras will be covered in Part 1
and Part 2, respectively, of the project. Most of the verses
in the first section were obviously revealed before the
migration to Medina, and most of the verses in the second
section were undoubtedly revealed in Madina. I created this
project as part of my memorizing the Qur'an. Therein is to
internalize the spirit of the revelation. I reasoned that I
might as well share this with my fellow listeners and kill
(Allahu Akbar!) two birds with one stone. The Qur'an
recitation will stand alongside the spoken word. I will work
with a few Quran reciters and memorizers besides myself to
read Allah's word in its original form to give this project a
more comprehensive format. With that, I think our relationship
as non-Arab speakers with the Qur'an will have more
significance. To jump-start this project, let us use Ibn Abbas'
theory of the Qur'an's revelation to internalize the meaning
of the Surah (Chapters) and Ayaat (Verses) in our hearts. May
Allah grant us all ease to make the Qur'an our true best
friend.
Since Friday is the most important and blessed day of the week
for Muslims, I'm taking the liberty of releasing the first few
episodes on Friday, August 19th, to receive the beautiful
blessings.
So be sure to look out for this soon-to-be-released weekly
series every Friday on JJW Weekly Podcast. Insha Allah.
