Why Crisis

Mar 19, 2021

For many people, homelessness is a horrid reality. Crisis is one of the charities that tackles this issue, providing vital help so that people can rebuild their lives and receive the support they need. Here's what they have to say:

Homelessness is devastating, dangerous and isolating. In 21st century Britain, everybody should have a place to live.

People lose their homes for a variety of reasons. Rising pressure from high rents and low pay, or a sudden life event like losing a job or family breakdown, can quickly force people into homelessness. But it doesn’t need to be like this.

We can end homelessness for good. This doesn’t mean that no-one will ever lose their home again, but that everyone facing homelessness gets the help they need quickly.

Stories have always been an important part of my life. As a child, I was an avid reader and my family couldn't get me to pull my nose out of one book or another. Stories have taught me a lot and, in many ways, provided me with a home away from home.

Everyone deserves shelter and safety at a bare minimum. I know how much various stories have helped me in my life, which is one of the reasons I'm so passionate about my editing work. To be able to also use my work to support Crisis in their fight against homelessness is a true honour.

You can find out more about Crisis and their efforts to support homeless people year-round on their website.

Thank you for your support.
