The Big Step is a campaign to end all gambling advertising and sponsorship in football, led by people harmed by gambling. We are part of Gambling with Lives (www.gamblingwithlives.org), a charity set up by bereaved family members and friends who have lost loved ones to gambling-related suicide.
Together, we advocate for a public health approach to preventing gambling harms, which would include an end to all gambling promotion, especially in football.
OUR WALKERS NEED YOU!
Our next campaign event is taking place this Friday 14th and Saturday 15th October from Sheffield to Leeds. Over 30 people who have been directly or indirectly harmed by gambling, will be walking over 40 miles across two days in memory of Kimberly Wadsworth, who sadly took her life in 2018.
Along the way we will be stopping at Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Barnsley and finally Leeds United - Kimberly's club.
Each and every one of
the walkers are volunteering their own time to complete such a mammoth expedition
and so we’ve set up this page to keep them fuelled along the way.
Your kind donations will go towards the walkers’ lunch and dinner – plus soft/hot drinks to keep them hydrated throughout the day!
