About The Blog of Mazarbul
Voyaging upon a vague and wandering quest
Writing is a joy and a love for me, and it is something that I intend to continue pursuing no matter what — yet even so, it is a significant investment of time and effort on my part. By supporting me and my writing, you offer the most encouraging and meaningful feedback possible — and for that, I am truly grateful!

The Blog of Mazarbul is, fundamentally, a blog about whatever I want to write about. Usually, that’s Tolkien. Sometimes, it’s creative work, or analytical posts on media, or the odd foray into culture or theology. It is, in short, an effort on my part to write about what I care about — and it represents a (fairly naïve, all in all) belief on my part that there are enough people out there who might be interested in reading that writing.
From the inception of this blog, I have been determined that everything here should be free and publicly available, immediately and in perpetuity. I have no interest in locking “content” behind tiers or in limiting what I offer to readers. This is intended to be a resource that can serve whoever may have interest in it, and it is intended to be a space in which I myself can practice this craft and discuss what I am interested in — there is no reason for me to commercialise what is truly a labour of love.
And yet, that is not to discount that it is a labour. Over the last years, I have dedicated more and more time to writing, and have invested in the blog to make it a richer and more rewarding space. And, while I have received some very kind feedback indeed on individual posts and on the blog as a whole, it is still a fundamentally lonely labour — it is a single small voice in a vast and ever more unfriendly Internet, and that can be exhausting indeed.
If you are willing to support what I am doing on the blog, that allows me to pay the bills for web-hosting and domains. It allows me to potentially devote more time to writing, and to devote more time to managing this space. And it is the greatest motivator and most encouraging feedback that I can possibly receive.
Thank you for your support, whatever form that support may take — it is greatly appreciated!
