Do you have a website? You don’t need Linktree.

Apr 02, 2022

Link in bio. That tends to be the main call to action for Instagram. And unless you’ve got over 10k followers, your bio is the only spot to share a link. That’s where bio link services like Linktree, Campsite, Linkin.bio, etc. come into play. They became the workaround to include more than one link in your social profile.

However, somewhere along the way, we forgot about the power of our very own website. We started prioritizing a 3rd party service over our own business. Well, I’m here to tell you to stop that ✋🏼 and bring the attention back to your website.

You’re Confusing Your Users

Bio link services are comprised of links, which can be confusing because there is no established hierarchy. You may think you’re making it easy but you’re actually making it harder for your users to find what they are looking for. This is not a good experience for your users.

Whenever I want to click the link in someone’s bio it’s because I want to first and foremost learn more about them through their website. Most of the time, people bury their website or don’t even link to it at all. This can leave such a poor impression on your brand without you even realizing it.

Drive Traffic to YOUR Website

With your website, your main goal is to drive traffic. After all, what’s the point of having a website if you don’t have people use it? When you use a bio link service you’re driving traffic away from your site to a 3rd party platform. Plus, if your bio link service contains links to your website, it’s counterintuitive and you’re just creating extra steps. Skip all that and lead them directly to your website!

Control Your Content

What would happen if you woke up tomorrow and your bio link service of choice was gone? You’d lose your data. When you rely on a 3rd party service (and this goes for social media too) you’re playing by their rules. But when you use your website as your hub you’re in control of everything!

Elevate Your Brand

When using a bio link service you’re at the mercy of their look-and-feel. It’s not on-brand for you, it’s on-brand for them. Don’t want ads? Pay more monies! Why would you do that when you can use your website? Your website IS your brand!

Better Analytics

Sure, one of the appeals of using a bio link service is the ability to track clicks. But guess what! You can do all that and more on your own website through the power of Google Analytics for free!

Bottom line? Use your website.

Simply put, if you have a website, you don’t need a bio link service. Instead, create your own equivalent “link in bio” page ON your website.

It’s so easy, no matter what platform you’re using. Simply create a page and add your links. Then paste the link to that page in your Instagram profile. Check out my Link in Bio.
