I am anxious & panicked. What do I do?

Apr 24, 2021

Covid has bought anxiety and panic attack to each one of us. Everyone is facing it & no one knows what to do when you in that chaotic state of mind.

Here are few things that you can do -

  1. Accept there is situation on hand. It has happened to you or to your loved ones. By accepting the situation, you tell your brain cells to prepare the anti body cells in your body to prepare for the fight against the situation. You become more alert.

  2. Take deep breaths (as many as you want) till you feel calm inside. It sounds absurd but understand this is very critical to align your mind with your body rhythm only then you will work as a whole system. Otherwise your body will keep working in one direction and your mind will work in another direction making you feel lost, tired, anxious and panicked all the time.

  3. Collect the facts. If you are panicked due to covid, then list down the symptoms, the temperature, the oxygen level, the pulse rate, the blood pressure count, all that you can gather. If you are panicked because of other situation like exams, presentations, relationships, etc., even then gather the facts - How much have you studied & are confident about? Have you got all the things needed to put up the presentations handy? Does he really love you - what has he done for you out of love?

  4. Consult a professional. Now that you are in a steady state of mind & you have collected the facts. Approach a professional - doctor, counsellor whoever you need in your respective situation. You can also reach out to such professionals by visiting their websites, listening to their podcasts, watching their videos, etc. I mean to say approach a professional not just any person who claims to know about something.

  5. Plan & Execute. Now that you have the suggestions from the professional and the facts in hand. Plan according to the resources you have available because you know what best suits your situation. A calm and knowledgeable mind will be your best resource. It will guide you in the most surprising ways. Once you have the plan, execute it. Do all that you planned.

  6. Journal it. Win one day at a time. You won't be able to do everything as you planned & that is ok. The important things are the small victories. Note them down at the end of the day. These are your wins you need to read out loud when you feel anxious again.

  7. Have good rest. After conquering the day and marking your wins, you deserver to have a good sleep. Your mind and body deserves that. Give yourself that quality sleep.

These are all tried and tested methods which have me & others to whom I have shared with. I hope they work for you too.

Love & strength to you. Write soon!
