I hope everyone had a wonderful Field Day. I took the opportunity to put EmComm Tools through its paces on Field Day and was pleasantly surprised with the result. In addition to sending out a text message to my wife via ARPS (SMSGTE) and sending out a Field Day status report via Winlink, the radio (FT-818), Raspberry Pi and myself all managed to survive the 100+ degree temperatures. I spent my mornings before work this week adding additional support to the callsign lookup feature. The latest build is now capable of displaying the grid square and point-to-point distance in miles from you and another operator. It's too bad I didn't have this feature in time for Field Day. It would have been fun to see how far I was propagating using these offline capabilities. Here's the demo:
