Lockdown Session #01

Lockdown Session #01

Apr 22, 2021

Instead of sulking during 2020, my friend and I started a small business where we make earrings out of polymer clay. I wasn't even knowledgeable enough about it and mind you, I wasn't even creative enough for the cut too.

I wanted to share with you how I tried something new and went out of my comfort zone for it. I'm a fan of accessories, yes, but I'm not a creative type of person. I don't know how to paint and I don't have a wide variety of imagination when in comes to art. So this business that my friend proposed to me was an out of this world idea to me especially when she told me we'll design it ourselves. Like what? Are you even sane? Do you know who you're talking too? It's me, hello? Me. Your not so creative friend, remember?

She insisted, and succeeded. So here we go:

This was my first slab. A slab is a huge or even a small canvass made out of polymer clay and designed with polymer clay. It's not perfect but I was so proud of it. It took me nearly three hours to finish this small slab because I was conscious about my strokes and design. I was unsure too, if my friend would like this trial of mine and include it in our collection. Things and thoughts that a beginner like me usually have. When I sent this design in our group chat, she approved it! She said it looks great for my level and I did a good job. Yeyyy!

The product that came out of this slab is this:

and mind you, it was sold ($5) immediately on our launch. I was so happy! My friend and I made little dances every time another pair gets sold. It's really different when you are selling something you worked hard for and another person appreciates it. The time and ideas, even the brainstorming was worth the while.

We have a lot of stuffs now going on in our page and we ship worldwide. Although this sounded like I'm selling but I'm just really sharing about my lock down session where I was able to develop a new skill and I'm grateful that I went out of my comfort zone for this.

If I made it, you can too! Just believe in yourself.

Love, gemmyy.
