Having a shooting board is as wonderful as it is frustrating. Keeping sharp is very important as you're mostly cutting end grain. My latest video shows how I prolong the life of the iron by shifting the workpiece up on plywood shims or blanks. This gives us a number of different heights until the iron really will need to be sharpened.
And using a Record T5 Technical Jack is the more affordable way to shoot end grain timber. They're quite the collectable plane. Not as highly regarded as the Stanley 51. But I think a great plane to have in your kit.
Enjoy the video and if you can support me then it would very much be appreciated. Thank you.
