Letters from Ukraine. Eurovision, missil ...

Letters from Ukraine. Eurovision, missiles and drones

May 14, 2023

Hi!

The last two days were under attack again. Our rest was short. These night attacks have high emotional pressure. Bad sleep, uncertainty, explosions, and messages like

- Please, be careful, missiles are on their way.. (to you, your relatives, your hometown, your everything...)

really influence our everyday life in not a very positive way.

I just realized that my letters to you are more like a war diary now. I find it ok. You? Maybe someday I will publish these letters in a book or anything.

Oops, sorry for changing the route of the letter. I'm not a missile, so my route changes are safe.

Now I'm going to share a picture with you. All of the images you see in this letter are from my today's walk to the Dnipro River. These spring colors make me speechless and

- OMG. Take a look.

Let's come back to the attacks. Especially yesterday's one was so cruel. It started precisely with Eurovision. And right before the Ukrainian representative went to a stage to sing, his native town (Ternopil) was attacked by missiles. It's such nonsense. Why?

They (russians) probably want to break us mentally. But we... what we? Today I saw a car with a good message to the russian warship. And this message is burning in everyone's heart here.

A picture? (unfortunately, I don't have a picture of that car). But this one is not bad too.

So overnight, our air defense shot down 25 drones and three missiles. The day before yesterday, 17 drones out of 21. The drones and missiles injure and kill people, ruin their houses, schools, hospitals... everything on their way.

Now it's still calm. But the situation might be changed at any minute. So I enjoy this calmness and have a chance to talk with you.

By the way, speaking about Eurovision. I forgot to mention that the UK made it perfectly. Seeing Ukraine in the slightest detail was so touching and heartbreaking. I'm not a music person, but I watched Eurovision this year. Ok, with missiles, but I watched. Unbelievable experience.

A picture? Yes. We need it.

And I'm grateful to all the countries supporting us. It means a lot. Really a lot.

Ok. Before saying goodbye, I want to mention that I have an Instagram. Yesyes, I told you once (or twice, or many-many times) that I don't like this social media and have some reasons for that. But I take many pictures of Ukraine and want them to live somewhere. Nothing will be changed. Twitter activity, these letters will be as usual (I only hope they get better every time).

So my Instagram page is here.

I just checked my phone. Drones or something is moving toward Zaporizhzhia. Usually, it's a sign that soon we'll have guests. I hope not because... I want to have a normal sleep this night.

Thank you! Thank you for reading my letters, maybe even supporting me by buying a warcoffee or being a member (membership support is here). Right now, I don't have any special perks for your kindness. I have only my letters. In the future, I'll reward everyone who supports me in this "Yaroslava is writing books during the war'.

Tons of hugs,
Yara (or Yaroslava)
