New Goals for the Podcast

New Goals for the Podcast

Jul 05, 2022

Hi everyone! I've been thinking for a while about what I need to help make the podcast videos better and have made some decisions on where to start. First, I recently tried a trial of Canva Pro and found the added features of being about to modify photos at a higher resolution made the YouTube thumbnails and social media posts much better than what I was creating before. The monthly subscription to Canva is about $13, and I'll be able to purchase this once I have $20 in membership.

The next goal I've set is to subscribe to Restream at the professional level. Restream will allow me to host the interviews on an online platform that will have several "seats" for guests. The online platform stores the video and separate audio files to give a richer sound and video quality to the podcast. This platform will also give the option of having a "round table" type of podcast where we can have multiple guests on at the same time as well as some cool features for live streaming. The professional level of Restream is $50/month, and I'll be able to purchase this once I have $75 in memberships.

The last goal I've set is to purchase a desktop computer system. I'm currently using a laptop that isn't able to process the large video files very well, and most of the final cuts of the podcast take several hours to process before I can post them to YouTube. The desktop system I want to build will include a faster processor, a high-quality graphics card, a large amount of working memory, an external storage drive as well as a good video monitor. My estimate of the cost of this type of system is between $1,200 and $1,500. Because of this, I am going to wait to save for the computer set up after I have $75 in memberships and will save until I can purchase the computer at one time.

I appreciate those of you who have decided to support the podcast! You are an encouragement to me, and I am awed that you have joined in the mission of what we're trying to do with the Water Prairie Chronicles!
