The Benefits Of Skin Care & Beauty Routines

By Jo Watt

Let’s dive in to skin care and beauty routines and why caring for our body is super important.

First of all putting time and energy into your appearance isn’t about being superficial or vain. It’s a way of honouring and nurturing your body in a way that is loving and caring.

Beauty Rituals are not only mood boosting and empowering, but it helps instil confidence in yourself and sparks individuality and gives you a sense of pride.

5 Minute Skin Care Routine

(as out of the complete guide to Self Care by Kiki Ely)

  • Oil Cleanse – This practice helps to wash your face and break down makeup and remove impurities from your skin. All you need is 2 teaspoon coconut oil & 1 teaspoon castor oil.

  • Soap cleanse – you want to find a natural soap that doesn’t affect the pH of your skin. All you need is liquid Castile soap, distilled water, foaming dispenser & essential oils.

  • Toner – this helps to keep your skin’s pH balanced and minimises the size of your pores and makes your skin radiant and shiny. All you need is witch hazel & rose water

  • Facial Oil Moisturiser – this helps to combat fine lines and wrinkles and locks in moisture and adds a nice glow to your skin. All you need is Macadamia Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil and Rosehip Oil.

  • Facial Roller – this tool helps to relax tension in your face, promotes lymphatic drainage and releases toxins. All you need is a crystal facial roller.

Did you know that the skin is the largest organ of the body? So its super important to nourish our skin and look after it.

Here are 5 Things I Love to Use In My Beauty Routine.

  • Clay Face Mask – Personally I like to use natural clay masks that I make myself with Bentonite (or Kaolin) Clay with either activated charcoal or Matcha Green Tea Powder with some water and essential oils. Its detoxifying and its helps clean the impurities from your face.

  • Essential Oil Aromatic Dressing – I like to use coconut oil with a combination of my favourite essential oils and massage all over my skin.

  • Sugar Scrub for Exfoliation – This is great to help get rid of dead skin and exfoliate. Simply use sugar, coconut oil and essential oils.

  • Foot Spa – I love using Epsom Salts, Sea Salt, Warm Water & Essential Oils to detoxify and cleanse my feet. If you have a bath tub you can also do this practice.

  • Coconut & Essential Oils Hair Oil – I find my hair is really dry and unmanageable after I wash it so I like to put coconut oil in my hair after I wash it to nourish my scalp and smooth my dry hair.

There are loads of DIY recipes on Pinterest or Google for you to find that suits you.
