Doctor Update

May 12, 2021

Good evening friends!

I had my visit with the Lyme specialist this morning. He confirmed that my Lyme is in a chronic state, but he is running a new blood test that’s being sent to a special lab in Florida. They’re going to test my blood over the next 4 weeks (Lyme bacteria has a slow reproduction rate, so good testing on Lyme takes time). We’ll be able to tell how long the Lyme has been in my system with this test, but he thinks I’ve been dealing with an active flare up for over 8 years.

I’ll go back in a month to discuss the results, and he should then start me on a new treatment. When treating Lyme, it can take anywhere from 1-3 years to completely rid the body of the spirochetes, so this will in no way be a quick process, but we are making small steps.

I’m still on the books with the neurologist next month. Even if the majority of my symptoms are coming from Lyme, there’s a chance it could have inevitably caused some permanent damage, so we think imaging and testing is still a good idea.

The past two years have been full of pain and what was turning into desperation for an answer. A hard part of what I’m going through has been the lack of physical evidence. I don’t look like I’m struggling with crippling pain, and I’m overall heathy, so it’s been REALLY hard to get a doctor to listen to me. I feel so relieved to have a general heading, to have hope in sight once more.

Thank you again to all who have helped in whatever capacity you were able. Messages, posts, kind words, you all mean the world to me.

There are still pending medical visits, tests, etc, and the treatment for my Lyme alone for the next 12 months has been quoted at around $2,000. Please help to spread the word to friends or small businesses if you know of anyone who would be willing and able to donate. You all have helped TREMENDOUSLY, and I can never thank you enough for that, but next month’s appointments, medicines, and testing will most likely be well over $1,500. Anything and everything helps.

I love and appreciate you all. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.

Sincerely,

Whitney
