Living in a van is not fun. Stop watching the videos and liking the posts. The only people who might like van life are the ones who have money. As always the rich assholes of this world have made being homeless "trendy" oh, can't afford rent or mortgage? Let's buy a $100,000 van! Yes they can get that expensive. We do not have that type of van. We are the real homeless. The very poor who don't have amazing credit and who can't get all the bells and whistles.
We drive a 2014 town and country van. We've had so many issues since the day we got it delivered from carvana. We can't afford most of the repairs so we drive a piece of junk hoping today won't be the day it breaks down for good. The van is apparently well known for its electrical issues and it likes to randomly shut itself off while we are driving. Yes it just goes blip! Goodbye. Chrysler got sued but nothing changed since all their vans have issues. That reminds me how much I hate cars. But what can we do? In this country everyone needs a vehicle. Our van is not beautiful. We have a RV mattress on the floor, a plastic dresser from Walmart and that's it. We pee in dunkin cups so we can avoid running in stores constantly. We sit at parks on days off in the shade so our cat doesn't get hot.
Let's stop ignoring what's in front of our faces. In the USA the homelessness is getting worse. Don't listen to Biden and the news. I see it everyday. The parking lots full of RVs and cars. What will it take for corporations to pay a living wage? Why are we letting them ruin our lives? I guess I'm getting fired up. I will share pictures and videos of the van eventually. I feel like I constantly have to prove myself to people so I'm taken seriously when I ask for help or tweet about how unfair this is. No one deserves to be homeless. We are literally one paycheck from sleeping on a bench. Who isn't?
