the empty swing

the empty swing

Aug 05, 2021

The empty swing
Hung sad

No more Joy,
No more Laughs

No more touching the sky,
“To infinity and beyond!”

Gone were those days,
Just like that

For it’s child has grown old
Moved away, left home

Idle stillness
All alone

Save for the invisible wind
As only friend

Who merely has a duty
To perform

To blow
And nothing more

Not like play
For play’s sake

As children
So wisely know,

For they understand
Play, is where
All things
Great, we see here

Are birthed
As this Creation

From the blank pages
Of make-believe
And Great Mystery’s
Imagination

That sacred place

Where the dreaming
Becomes reality;

So swing more,
Think less

And honor the importance
Of play and rest…
