"We still need two more, and it's Halloween night," the creature said. "We've got to call them both now. We're running out of time."
"How about these two," another repulsive beast suggested, pointing to two names on a very long list. "Aren't they supposed to be drained anyway? I'll make the call."
"No! You idiot," the first creature roared. "They are not to be harmed! Weren't you paying attention to anything?"
"Of course I was," the second beast snapped. "Don't call me an idiot, idiot. We need their blood for a special recipe, right?"
"But not, yet. A SPECIAL recipe, so not the normal stuff. We can't touch those two till after They have arrived. Then we'll slit their throats and drain their veins like the mindless cattle they are."
"Ok. Ok. Fine. Not them, then. What's so special about them anyways? They look like run of the mill pathetic people."
"Fear, Blindness and Connection. That's what makes them special. We need a perfect connection between absolute fear and absolute denial to let Them through and then the blood of each will secure victory, but a connection can't be made if they're DEAD. We do, however, need them to be here, physically, so figure that one out."
"So figure that one out…" the second beast mocked. "Why do I always have to do everything? You'd think you could step up every so…" it was interrupted by a sharp talon slash across the face.
"Figure it out or I'll feed your jerkied hide to someone who will. And pick two names!"
The second beast just hung its head and picked up the list, dripping blood on it.
"Fine. Here, an Alexis Taylor and…
"Of course, how could I have forgotten? That cop that was sniffing around here. What was his name? Oh yes, here it is. Kimzy, Officer Kimzy."
"Miss Alexis Taylor and Officer Kimzy it is; the final two winners of our little macabre lottery. I'll call them now. You figure out how to
get Deb and Alex here."
