Technology. It's great when it works, designed to make our life easier and yet it can go wrong so easily and when it does it messes everything up.
Let's put this into perspective. I am a writer and crafter trying to build my brands, get my work out there and gain followers. In this day and age that requires technology. For the last 4 weeks I've been battling with re-doing the website. I'm pleased to say that it's finally done and back up but there were many days of rage quitting and head-in-hands and several days where I didn't have a computer at all whilst it was being repaired after a major crash. All the adverts claim it's so simple, get your website up and running in a few clicks but it's really not. The next hurdle I've come up against is designing merchandise. Again, used a well known program and everything seemed to be going fine until I get an email at 16.58 saying sorry there's a problem with your artwork and we cannot proceed until YOU fix it. Great, how? I'm not an expert when it comes to graphic design or all the background programming stuff so here I am still trying to fix the issues. Had the technical guys on the phone, they can't work out what the problem is so still no nearer to a solution. I'm ready to hold my hands up and admit defeat to be honest. And the next hurdle that's waiting in the wings, updating the book. The cover, blurb and author bio should be simple enough to change but changing the actual book itself gives me nightmares. Getting it uploaded and accepted was an absolute nightmare last year (through no fault of my own, rather an editor that wouldn't accept that they had made a mistake) but although it's only a few small tweaks I'm dreading it. Fingers crossed I can make it work and The Mage's Journal will get it's new look soon.
If you'd like a sneak peak at the cover, you can find it as a members post.
