A supporter is worth a thousand followers [OPEN BLOG]

Oct 24, 2021

A supporter is worth a thousand followers. That's the Buy Me A Coffee motto.

And it's so true.

Being a member or supporting me with a one-off coffee has really made a big difference for my project. I want to thank you so much as some of you have been here for nearly a year (I launched in January 2021) reading my writing and having their own voice in this community. It's not something I take lightly.

I wanted to use this week to let you know about my plans for 2022 within this membership. This is also your opportunity to let me know what you'd like to see in 2022.

Maybe you already guessed when I shared a video of my brand new microphone to my Instagram stories this week!

Yep. I have been reflecting on my own information consumption habits. I do personally find it difficult to sit down and read content. I've been doing some extra training at the moment and the way I get this done is by listening to the content on my morning walk. There's no way I could sit down and read through it all with two young children and a job and a social movement. It just wouldn't happen.

SO.

With all things in this project, I made the assumption that I am not alone with anything I experience and have decided to make consuming my content easier. I will be recording my posts as well as posting the written transcript for those who appreciate that. This will take more time and it will also mean that my posts will be more in-depth to ensure it's a juicy conversation. Posts will be fortnightly from 2022. I actually think that this is better for everyone. I know many of you spend time "catching up" on previous posts!

I'm super excited about this change.

But I want to hear from you!

As I plan my content for 2022, please let me know what you'd like me to talk about. So far, I've heard from a few of you. You would like more of anger/rage, postpartum anxiety, common parenting challenges, picking yourself up when you're feeling stuck under the weight of motherhood, more behind the scenes of The Postnatal Project. I will also write from the heart as it comes - as normal. It might be useful to hear me speak to these words too.

If you want to add to this list, please email me back or have a think and connect with me.

Another consideration of mine is closing the Facebook group. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would and you haven't used it as much as I thought you would! That's totally fine. I just think it might be more useful to have our conversations via the comments section here privately or publicly via socials for all to benefit.

Let me know what you think about that change too.

I will be taking a break from content in December / January - for two weeks. I haven't picked the dates yet but I'll make it clear when it gets closer.

As always, I appreciate other feedback too. Feel welcome to let me know how you feel about this membership and how it could be better for you. I'm all ears.

TLDR;

(too long, didn't read)

1. Request a topic for 2022!
2. Let me know if you like the idea of revamping the Facebook group for discussions
3. I'll be taking a break from posting weekly over the Christmas period

Chat next week.
