Admittedly, for many 2020 and 2021 were challenging at best, devastating at worst. Myself (Johnny), a year ago this week was diagnosed with COvid 19 and spent a month trying to recover, only to end up in the hospital with life threatening blood clots in my lungs. I used the incident to take time off to reflect and reprioritize my creative career.
After 30 years of performing for millions of people live on stage, I decided to take time away from the stage and focus on writing and podcasting. The Back of the Cereal Box was born out of that pivot.
What began as a spark of idea was fanned into a roaring fire that has now become a small video and podcast network! Over the last year, we've done on location appearances and shows at events and venues and on thing has become clear; there is an even bigger opportunity for the podcast to broadcast live remotes AND for me to return to the performance stage!
To this effort, I am launching Back of the Cereal Box presents: The Super Saturday Magic Matinee. This will be a live show and digital broadcast exclusively for venues and events with a stage, and that are without any family friendly programming or entertainment on Saturdays.
How it works: Once a month, we will broadcast the Saturday Morning Back of the Cereal Box flagship show from a specific venue or event, followed by a late morning or early afternoon performance of The Super Saturday Magic Matinee, which will also be live-streamed from the venue! This will provide the venue or event with pre-show advertising, create a destination event to put "butts in the seats", and post-show evergreen advertising for the business to our audience of 260,000 people (total impressions across social media and podcast accounts accoridng to Facebook Analytics).
