We recently covered the Top 5 announcements we might see at Disney Plus Day at D23 on September 8th. You can watch the show here.
There are a number of shows that will be released over the next year that we should expect some news, and/or footage revealed at D23. What can we expect? Thanks to The Direct, we decided to speculate as to what might be revealed.
1. Andor
Andor will be released on September 21, 2022, and will debut with the first three episodes. We expect to see more footage from this show, since it is so close to being released. Additionally, Rogue One was just re-released in theaters, and includes some making of...footage from Andor.
Prediction: Extended trailer; Making of...footage
2. The Bad Batch Season 2
The Bad Batch Season 2 was set to be released in September, 2022, but was mysteriously removed from the 2022 release schedule. Does this mean that it is being postponed to next year, or is it simply an oversight? We know the season is finished, and ready to be released, but the question is when?
Prediction: Release date revealed; Extended Trailer; Dave Filoni Interview
3. Tales Of The Jedi
When Dave Filoni announced he was creating a new animated series, many thought it would be a sequel to Rebels. However, we strongly feel that the live action Ahsoka series will largely fill that role, and that Filoni will use this opportunity to flesh out the Jedi during the Clone Wars era.
Prediction: Trailer; Dave Filoni Interview
4. Ahsoka
Speaking of Ahsoka, those who attended Star Wars Celebration this year were treated to a teaser trailer of Ahsoka. Unfortunately, this was not released to the general public, and the only glimpse of this highly anticipated show came in the form of badly shot videos from Celebration of the trailer.
Prediction: Teaser trailer released to public; Cast interviews
5. The Acolyte
Very little is still known about this show, other than it is set toward the end of the High Republic era, and it will focus on the Dark Side of The Force. Amandla Stenberg was announced as the series lead, and we know Leslye Headland is writing the show. Other than that, little is known.
Prediction: More cast announcements; Leslye Headland interview; Concept art
We truly hope that Lucasfilm sticks to a consistent release schedule, and that it begins developing a cohesive universe with these new projects. Let us know what you think, and be sure to watch our YOUTUBE VIDEO!
