My therapist mentioned this lady to me recently – she specialises in Mother/Daughter relationships and has a fascinating (and I believe accurate) take on why many mother/daughter relationships are so fractious and difficult.
As we are both the mothers of daughters – me of one and Becky of two – this feels like a valuable insight into the dynamics that often occur...both between us and our children and also between us, as women, both working to get our needs heard and met.
