A baby is born
If not a few days before
A test thrown into the world
To see if it sinks into deep waters,
Dark and treacherous like sin,
Or if it floats downriver into
Something much more,
Something not
Unlike a net of golden
Possibilities skimming silver
Backed fish as it guides itself into
Rolling waves and gentle ebbs
Not unlike a captain at sea
Comfortable and serene
Steering precious cargo
Into a crowded harbor.
We all wait and see.
