Dear friend,

Hello!!!

When I began writing this, the setting was different. I had a temporarily vacant house to myself and you know the feels. A writer and a seemingly uninhabited expanse, oh, the things we’ll do! 💃🏽

Things have changed since. My house is full again, and I didn’t make much writing progress 🤷🏽‍♀️

There was something that drew my attention though. I believe in the Power of a Nook, in creating and maintaining one for myself. Altars. Sacred Space. I need a certain amount of ‘space’ in the Air around me - a no-distraction zone - where I can ground and tune in, where I can be one with my thoughts, my imagination running wild and free.

This translates to having some of my favourite poetic, romantic things around: incense; candles; partially open windows; feeling clean, fresh and subtly scented; music to soothe me (ASMR videos or sound frequencies playing in the background); sometimes nightly silence and cricket sounds etc. My craft is sacred, as are my offerings, and draping my altar in reverence is a ritual, and something I feel is the least & most I can do. Treating it with care makes each visit grounding and memorable, continuing to keep the sacred flame alight in me wherever I go.

It is true that as far as ‘setting’ goes, there is little guarantee that it will help you produce what you must. Whether it is one of the elements or all four, what the Magician does with the tools and traits at his disposal is up to him and him alone. Not the forces, energies or resting dust. It is a combination of all and every, it is surrender and trust. His mettle alone will not suffice, but the entirety of it. Every side.

I end yet again with riddle and rhyme, I find that it’s a safe way sometimes to express everything within that is mystery Divine.

May your quills never lose their voice, nor quiver!

I leave you be,

Roanna
