Not all adventures are swimming adventures... earlier this year some of my kids and I conquered the 13 Peak Challenge. My love of the mountains began, when as a small child, when my parents spent every school holidays hiking in the Cederberg... hard hikes, long hikes and good hikes... I loved those hikes, they taught me to revel in the great outdoors in ways that you can only get from being immersed in it. This was a gift that I really wanted to pass on to my own kids, and after years of family hikes we decided to raise our game... and conquer the route: Further than 100km and higher than 6000m elevation, all over the Table Mountain mountain range...
It is a trail running challenge on Table Mountain, that we hiked our way through, from one peak to the next, until we had conquered them all. This challenge begins with a map...
We began at Signal Hill in March and weekend after weekend we marched our way from peak to peak every weekend...

The 13 Peak Challenge, which we did as a team, is really a personal journey... what began as something I thought I might be able to do, became something that I was determined to finish. It was hard, tougher than tough in places... I grew and I learned and I am definitely going to do that again... because I know that I can do better...
